Soft reset:

1. Use the stylus tip to press the RESET button at the right panel of your device.

2. Your device restarts and displays the Home screen.

Hard Reset:

If a normal reset does not solve a system problem, you can perform a hard (full) reset. After a hard reset, the device is restored to its default settings—the way it was when you first purchased it and turned it on. You will lose any programs you installed, data you entered, and settings you customized on your device, and only Windows Mobile® software and other pre-installed programs will remain.

Warning! Your device will be set back to factory default settings. Make sure that any additional installed programs and/or user data have been backed up before you perform a hard reset.

With the device turned off, press and hold the TALK/SEND, END and POWER buttons until you see this message on the screen.

2. Release the TALK/SEND, END and POWER buttons.

3. Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset

Hard Reset – alternate way

If you can access the device settings, you can use Clear Storage to reset your device back to factory default settings.

1. Tap Start > Settings.

2. On the System tab, tap Clear Storage.

3. Enter “1234” and then tap Yes.

Soft reset:

Restart your phone when a program is not performing properly or the phone is not responding to any keypresses.

To restart the phone

Remove the battery.
Wait for three seconds, then reinsert the battery and turn on your phone.

WARNING! If the phone is restarted while a program is running, any unsaved work will be lost.

Hard Reset:

Resetting your phone will remove all the data from its memory and restore the phone back to the factory default settings.

Note: If Encrypt files placed on storage cards is or was enabled before, then back up all files from the storage card beforeusing Clear Storage or updating the ROM system software. Otherwise you will no longer be able to access the encrypted files on the storage card. Use ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center to transfer files between your storage card and computer. After the procedure, copy your files back to the storage card.

WARNING! Because all your data will be deleted, it is recommended that you back up your data first before resetting your phone.

Pull out the battery to make sure phone is turned off.
Press and hold the Volume Down button, the Green Send button and the Red End button at the same time.
Phone will turn on – release the buttons
When prompted press the volume up to confirm the hard reset

Hard Reset – alternate way

If you can access the device settings, you can use Clear Storage to reset your device back to factory default settings.

Select Start > Device Management > Clear Storage.

Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the phone. The phone will restart after it has been reset.

Perform a full erase when you give your phone to somebody else and you don’t
want that person to be able to access your data. Also, before giving your phone to
another person, you must manually delete all the apps you installed, because they
reappear on your phone after a full erase (see “Delete an Application” on page 62).
After a full erase, sign in to your Palm profile—this restores your Palm profile data
and information from online accounts, but not your stored files such as pictures,

Soft reset:

A soft reset is similar to restarting a computer. If your Treo is not responding or you have trouble synchronizing with your computer, a soft reset may help.

If your Treo responds to key presses, press and hold Power/End to turn off your phone.
If the screen display is on, press Power/End to turn off the screen.
Remove the battery from your Treo, and then reinsert it. The reset begins when you insert the battery back.
Wait for the progress bar on the Palm logo screen to fill and the Windows Mobile screen to transition to the Today screen before continuing to use your Treo. (Be patient, this may take a few minutes.)

Hard reset:

A hard reset erases all personal information, such as appointments, contacts, and tasks, as well as programs you have added, such as third-party software, on your Treo. Never do a hard reset without first trying a soft reset.

If possible, synchronize your device with your computer so that your device applications
and info can be restored by synchronizing again after you perform the hard reset.

Remove the battery from your Treo.
Press and hold Power/End while reinserting the battery.
When the Palm logo screen appears and the progress bar begins to fill, release Power/End .
When the “Erase all data?” prompt appears, press Up to confirm the hard reset.
Wait for the progress bar on the Palm logo screen to fill again and for the Windows Mobile screen to appear.
Follow the onscreen instructions to align the screen before continuing to use your Treo.

Soft reset:

Resetting the device restores all the factory defaults,including the ringer types and display settings. The Contacts list, call history, scheduler, and messaging are not affected.
1. Press Start > Settings > More… > Security.
2. Select Phone Reset
3. Enter the lock code and press Done (left softkey).
4. Read the disclaimer and press OK (left softkey).

The device will restart and all current data stored on the device will be deleted. This reset process does not affect the data stored on the MicroSD card.

Hard reset:

With phone powered off:
1. Press and hold both the left and right softkeys.
2. While both softkeys are held down, press and hold until the unit powers on.
3. As the device begins to power on, release both softkeys.

Once the phone powers on, you should see an
onscreen alert message (a white screen with blue text).
If you do not see this screen, let the device power up
normally, turn it off again, and then repeat steps 2 and

Occasionally, you may need to reset your device. A soft (or normal) reset of your device clears all active program memory and shuts down all active programs. This can be useful when your device is running slower than normal, or a program is not performing properly. A soft reset is also necessary after the installation of some programs. If a soft reset is performed when programs are running, unsaved work will be lost. To perform a soft reset:

1. Pull out the stylus.
2. Remove the back cover.
3. Use the stylus to press the Reset button located at the bottom of the back side of the device. Your device restarts and displays the Home screen.

Hard reset:
